Logistics Supervisor

Position Summary:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing assigned shipping and receiving leads, print shop, and associates. They are also responsible for recommending improvements in shipping and receiving methods and procedures.
- Essential Functions:Manage department employees:
- Ensure effective employee relations by providing coaching, development, and performance management.
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
- Create and manage existing and custom personnel schedules to maximize production.
- Manage employee training and records of training.
- Perform hiring, promotion, discipline and termination of employees. Evaluate employees through performance reviews and recommend develop employees for mutual benefit.
- Shipping:
- Observes, analyzes, and researches shipping operations to develop and implement an efficient process.
- Learn product and equipment characteristics to maximize production.
- Prepare material for shipment including packaging, labeling, and processing shipments
- Ensure all orders are shipped promptly and accurately with a goal of 100 percent accuracy.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure supplies and equipment necessary for shipping functions are available. Utilize first in, first out (FIFO) rotation of stock.
- Communicate effectively within and between departments including sales, production, and receiving
- Receiving:
- Observe, analyze, and research receiving operations to develop and implement an efficient process.
- Learn product and equipment characteristics to maximize production.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure supplies and equipment necessary for receiving functions are available.
- Schedule and maintain receiving flow in accordance with production needs
- Generate NCMR for issues requiring resolution as required
- Communicate effectively within and between departments including purchasing, sales, production, and shipping.
- Learn product and equipment characteristics to maximize production.
- Quality:
- Author and/or review work instructions, forms, assembly instructions checklists and other documentation as required in accordance with cGMP and company guidelines.
- Perform inspections and conduct routine audits of work areas for compliance to safety, sanitation, and quality requirements
- Identify non-conformance and process issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Technical:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to perform daily tasks.
- Ability to develop Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and graphs to present metrics, trending and cost analysis.
- Ability to utilize ERP system for inventory control purposes
- Ability to operate a forklift and other material moving equipment and observe and manage others who operate daily.
- Be a leader for the logistics departments and promote a continuous improvement environment through data and collaboration (KPIs, performance metrics, etc.)
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two-year degree in related field preferred, or four years management and/or supervisory experience
- At least 2 years experience with shipping, fulfillment, and inventory management experience.
- At least 1 year International freight and international document filing experience preferred.
- Previous cGMP experience preferred preferably in a 29 CFR 111 Dietary Supplement or 29 CFR 211 Pharmaceuticals shipping facility.
